January 10, 2009 Runoff

Mudflow from the site next door has increased due to recent rains. Although I'm happy to see the rain I'm very concerned about the new river of mud coming through the woods from phase II. The pond behind lot 17 has been filled in and my guess is the change has diverted runoff into the woods.

Met with Knox County inspector to look at the site on Jan. 6. Although most of the mud had flushed out of the creek, we did see a new problem on phase II below the old pond.
It appears that runoff is coming from phaseII, going underground, and popping back up as orange mud.

On January 10, I managed to capture the photos below just after a rain event. The 1st photo shows East Sinking Creek with the site in the background. The 2nd photo shows the new trail of mud coming from phaseII (as yet undeveloped).

In the 3rd photo you can see where a clean flow comes into the flow from the construction site:

Fourth photo is a shot of the stream crossing further downstream on my property.
